IRENEE ROCHARD - Walking Panther - c. 1930
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Rare, elegant hunting panther designed by Irenée Rochard (1906-1984) Born in Villefranche Sur Saône, Rochard was part of a family of artists with a mother who was a painter and a brother who became an actor and singer. He followed in his family's footsteps and quickly became a student at the Beaux-Arts and Decorative Arts schools in 1924, for four years. His orientation becomes very quickly concrete, with a passion for animal sculpture to "pay tribute to animals", he says. The artist obtains various prizes and distinctions. His first prize was for a life-size panther, which he obtained immediately after leaving school.
