Art Deco is an eclectic artistic and design style that began in Paris in the 1920s, and flourished in the USA and internationally throughout the 1930s and 1940s. Art Deco, as a style of art inspired by avant-garde, Bauhaus, cubism and futurism was most known for its geometric shapes, strong colours, zigzags, streamlining and bold outlines. The style actually influenced almost all areas of design, including jewellery, fashion, glass, ceramics, silver and poster art and represented elegance, exotisme, glamour, modernity and optimism.

 

Next to being raised in high quality antiques as my father was the driving force behind an antiques gallery specialised in 17th and 18th century clocks and furniture, Sabine, my wife, and I developed an unlimited passion for the sophisticated and flamboyant Art Deco style. For two decades we have collected Art Deco and studied the materials, construction techniques and craftsmanship of its designers. In 2017 we decided to share our passion through The Art Deco Boutique. We deeply believe that the bold look, the geometric patterns, the use of expensive materials and the real craftsmanship of mainly Belgian and French Art Deco elevates the interior design of any contemporary space.
