Vase designed by Edgard Aubry (1880-1943) and made in the “Poteries Roger Guérin, Grès De Bouffioulx”. Rare.

    Stoneware covered by translucent salt glaze. At a 1300C° salt is added to the furnace creating sodium vapours that mixes with the clay silicates which forms sodium silicate or translucent salt glaze. (Grès salé grand feu). In book Au Gré du Grès De l’Art Nouveau à l’Art Déco - Edgard Aubry & Roger Guérin- p. 33, 34 and 35 one can read about Edgard Aubry as an exceptional ceramic turner.

    Aubry was known for his work in creating decorative ceramics, particularly in the Art Deco style, as well as his expertise in using various firing techniques to achieve unique effects in his work. He was a member of the Union des Artistes Modernes (Union of Modern Artists), a French organization that promoted modern art and design.

    In addition to his ceramic work, Aubry was also an accomplished painter and illustrator. His work has been exhibited in various galleries and museums, including the Musée royal de Mariemont in Belgium and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, France.
