LE VERRE FRANCAIS – CHARDER, Ch. Schneider - Vase Nénuphars - c. 1928
Very rare (as géometric and no “nature” design) top Art Deco avoïd vase with short neck with abstract
geométric handmade design named “Nénuphar Rouges” (red Water Lilies) conceived by Charles Schneider and executed in the Société Anonyme des Verreries. Charles Schneider (1881-1953) was founder and manager (together with his sister and brother Ernestine and Ernest) of Schneider, one of the largest glass studios in France. In 1926 he was awarded the Légion d'Honneur for special merit to France. Le Verre Français is a brand used in 1920-1930 by Schneider for luxury glass, prestiguous, top collection and mainly sold in the luxury glass and design departments of Galeries Lafayette
(La Maitrise), Le Printemps (Primavera) and Au Bon Marché (Pomone).
PRODUCT INFO
Pink powdered glass, fading to orange and violet downwards, lined with orange/red geometric line and arches
designed manually acid etched powdered glass. The Verre Français glassware was blown individually and not in a mould,
therefore size and shape can vary slightly from vase to vase. With picture of a similar vasein bleu in book Charles Schneider,

SIGNATURE/MARKS:
Double (!) signature CHARDER (contraction of Charles Schneider) and Le Verre Français diamond etched
in foot. Glasmarken Lexikon – Carolus Hartman - p. 796 and p. 138 – 2729, exactly dated 1926-1933, only on cameo.
